What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is more than talking — it’s a process of self-discovery and integration that invites you to explore not just the symptoms on the surface, but the deeper emotional, relational, and often unconscious patterns that shape how you move through life.

Some therapies focus mainly on your thoughts, helping you understand your thinking patterns and make changes from there. That’s important, but it’s only part of the picture.

My approach of psychotherapy also attends to your emotions, patterns, your nervous system, and your relationships. That’s because a lot of what we carry can’t always be understood and processed in words — it’s held in our bodies, how we feel, react, and relate.

At the heart of this process is the therapeutic relationship. When therapy feels grounded and safe, it becomes a space to explore your internal world with curiosity and compassion — to make sense of the patterns that show up in your life, understand how past experiences may be shaping your present, so that you can discover new ways of being with yourself, others, and the world around you.

The first session is a chance for us to settle in and get to know each other. You’ll have space to share what’s brought you here and what you’re hoping for. I’ll also ask some questions about your life and experiences to help me understand the broader context of your story.

Together we’ll co-create a plan that aligns with your goals and what feels most supportive for you. This shared understanding becomes the foundation for our work going forward.

Therapy tends to be most supportive when sessions are held regularly, but the pace is always guided by what feels right and sustainable for you. Together, we’ll find a rhythm that offers the steadiness and space you need to explore, reflect, and move toward your goals.
